Visitor Visas

Regardless of the duration of the tourist’s stay in Australia, a Visitor Visa is required.
Several options are available :

• Visitor Visa (subclass 600)
• Electronic Travel Authority Visa (subclass 601)
• eVisitor (subclass 651)

Visitor Visa (subclass 600)

Requirements :
The applicant can apply for the Visa if he/she:

• Comes as a tourist in Australia
• Comes for business activities
• Comes to visit family
• Is on a tour with a registered travel agent from the People’s Republic of China

Duration and conditions for the Visitor Visa :
This visa allows the applicant to visit Australia or to come in Australia for specific business activities for a period determined by the Minister, which may have a duration of 3, 6 or 12 months depending on the conditions.
The fees for the Visitor Visa start from 135 AUD$ and can rise up to 1000 AUD$.

Electronic Travel Authority Visa (subclass 601)

Requirements :
The applicant can apply for the Visa if :

• He/she comes as a tourist in Australia
• He/she comes for business activities
• If he/she is outside of Australia during the application and deliberation of the Visa
• If he/she holds a passport from an eligible country*

*Eligible countries for the Electronic Travel Authority Visa : Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta Monaco, Norway, Portugal, Republic of San Marino, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, citizens of the United Kingdom, residents of the United Kingdom (only to go to Hong Kong) and the Vatican.
Duration and conditions for the Electronic Travel Authority Visa :
The duration of the Electronic Travel Authority Visa expires after 12 months. The Visa holder can travel from and to Australia but can’t exceed 3 months at each visit.
The holders of the Electronic Travel Authority Visa is subject to certain conditions :

• He/she can’t work in Australia (volunteering can be tolerated under certain conditions)
• He/she can’t study more than 3 months
• The applicant has to get the Electronic Travel Authority Visa before to come in Australia
• The applicant may be denied entry to Australia if he/she has a criminal record

Delay :
The processing time for the Electronic Travel Authority Visa is less than one day and the fees are 20 AUD$.

eVisitor (subclass 651)

Requirements :
The applicant can apply for the Visa if he/she :

• Comes as a tourist in Australia
• Comes for business activities
• Is outside of Australia during the application and deliberation of the Visa
• Holds a passport from an eligible country*

* Eligible countries for eVisitor Visa : Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Republic of San Marino, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom – British Citizen, Vatican City.
Duration and conditions for the eVisitor :
The duration of the eVisitor Visa is up to 12 months. The eVisitor Visa holder can travel from and to Australia but can’t exceed 3 months at each visit. Obtaining the eVisitor is free.
